The archaeological site of the ruins of Bobastro just a 10 min. drive from el chorro, contains the remains of various buildings (ruins of the castle, a Muslim cemetery and especially the Mozarabic church, almost carved into the rock) that were built in the ninth century and which for a time served as a refuge the rebel muladí Hafsun Ben Omar, who from this place prepared revolts against the Caliphate of Cordoba.
